This application is for persons interested in operating a refreshment vehicle in Loyalist Township. Refreshment Vehicles can be Food Trucks, Catering Vehicles, Ice Cream Trucks, Hot Dog Stands, etc., and they are regulated by Township By-law 2024-103.

Please submit this application along with any supporting documentation required.

If you are applying for a Park Permit, you are required to submit your application by Tuesday, December 31, 2024. There are no deadlines for those operating on private property.

b) Choose a Refreshment Vehicle Classification:

Class 1 - Motorized vehicles without food preparation - Motorized vehicles permitted on public and private property from which pre-packaged or pre-made food products are offered for sale for a brief time per location - no food is permitted to be prepared on, in, or around the vehicle while in service. Most common example is an ice cream truck.

Class 2: Motorized vehicles with food preparation - Motorized vehicles where food products are prepared and offered for sale from different locations on public and/or private property. Most common example is a food truck.

Class 3: Non-motorized refreshment vehicles - Non-motorized vehicles, carts, bikes, etc. where food products, either pre-packaged or prepared on site, are sold or offered for sale on public and/or private property. They can be stationary, or mobile, but are non-motorized. Most common example would be hot dog carts.

5) Park Permits

Complete Section 5 only if applying for a Park Permit. The Township uses a Merit-Based Scoring System to allocate Park Permits to the applicants who have made a historical contribution to the community, promote diversity in food options, use local ingredients, and can show high customer satisfaction. Please refer to the Rubric for Park Permit to ensure you provide the information to achieve a high score.

a) If you would like to operate at one of the Township Park(s) through a Park Permit, we ask that you rank the following locations from 1 through 5, 1 being your first choice:

If your preferred park is not on this list, tell us which one and we will determine if it is suitable for a refreshment vehicle. The Township has no obligation to grant Park Permits at all parks. Suitability will be determined by the Director.
